The Department of Management Information Systems was established in 2022. Student admissions are planned to begin in the 2026–2027 academic year.
Management Information Systems:
Today, the production of goods and services based on information and communication technologies has gained significant importance. In the production of goods and services rooted in information technologies, internet-based applications, automation programs, planning and management software, as well as information and computer security, play a vital role. Furthermore, in today’s "new economy" paradigm, commerce, marketing, and management and organization practices based on information and communication technologies have become key dynamics in all stages of goods and services production. Therefore, access to information, classification of data, the use of information as business intelligence, and its effective evaluation in management processes have become increasingly important. Additionally, applications based on information and communication technologies enable the production of high value-added goods and services.
In this context, the aim of the Management Information Systems (MIS) program is to educate specialized individuals in both the public and private sectors in areas based on information and communication technologies—such as computer and information systems security, decision support processes, data mining, e-commerce, database systems, web design and management, web technologies, cloud computing, mobile programming, and social media management—and to ensure that these specialized individuals are effectively employed in positions needed by both sectors.
The advantages of the Management Information Systems (MIS) program are as follows: Graduates can be easily employed in any public or private sector organization that operates on information and communication technologies (e.g., banking, telecommunications, logistics, healthcare, tourism, etc.), particularly in areas where data is transformed into usable information.
The Management Information Systems (MIS) department has an interdisciplinary structure that includes diverse and evolving fields such as "technology management," "information and digital economy," "digital marketing," "management and organizational technologies," "information and communication technologies," and "quantitative methods"—all of which are essential for institutional governance in both the public and private sectors under today’s economic order. Therefore, due to its interdisciplinary structure, students who enroll in the Management Information Systems (MIS) program will have the opportunity to specialize in different fields throughout their education and gain the minimum required knowledge in these areas. In this sense, the MIS program provides graduates with dynamic advantages in both public and private sector employment.
